Battle of the Atlantic Slots, Openbet Review

I watched all of "The Pacific" series a couple of weeks ago and when I saw that here was a slot called Battle of the Atlantic I felt that I had to get a piece of that action. This is a marine war inspired slot game that incorporates all the aspects of warfare at sea with some nice slot gameplay. This is one of the first OpenBet slots that I have played and judging by just the theme it might be a company that I will put some more focus on in the future.

The background for Battle of the Atlantic is the wild sea with a dark sky to set the tone. There is a sort of frame around the slot which looks like you are looking through a periscope on a submarine. This is quite a nice feature and it brings the theme and the reels together in a really good way. Another nice design feature is how they have designed the controls for the slot. They really work well with the overall look and feel and it is like they are a part of the whole game. The only thing I am not a massive fan of is the bar at the top where we find the OpenBet logo along with your casino balance, stake and the Battle of the Atlantic logo. It just feels out of place.

Battle of the Atlantic is a game that I would really recommend to any beginner looking to move into the world of multi line slots as well as any high roller looking for a nice large bet. The five reels in the game are all stacked three high with symbols. This gives the player a total of 20 winning lines to put their money on, more than enough with this type of slot. Players with a smaller wallet, or the more cautious player, can opt for the minimum line bet of just £0.02. This brings the overall minimum bet for the full 20 line spin to just £0.40. If you want to work on the other end of the scale and risk a bit more money you can put down the maximum line bet of £25. This brings the overall maximum bet for the entire slot to a whopping £500. This is a massive betting range for this type of game and way too big if you compare it to the maximum jackpot. The largest jackpot for this game comes in at just £25,000 which is nowhere near what I would have expected when I saw what the maximum bet was. This is a really poor effort by OpenBet and it will make a few highrollers quite angry. Not many people out there will bet £500 each time when they cannot even multiply it by 100.

The symbols for this are all inspired by marine warfare and my favourite one must be the massive destroyer. There is also a submarine and an airplane amongst the symbol. However, the symbols are not moderns in terms of the things on them and they look more inspired by the Second World War than anything available today. The standard slot symbols ranging from 9 to A have also been used with some sort of camouflage attempt in order to make them look unique. There is a wild symbol, a scatter symbol and something called a feature symbol. For normal people the feature symbol is the same as the bonus symbol and it will start the bonus game.

The bonus game for this slot (or the feature round as they call it) is a slightly simpler version of battleships. The payouts are really nice and it is well worth playing if you get that far. The free spins help to make up for the areas where this game is below par and the overall grade is actually quite good. The only major flaw is the maximum bet versus the jackpot but other than this it is a well worked slot with nice symbols, a good theme and some decent graphics. For players looking for low to mid ranged bets this is a slot well worth trying out.
